Many were too young to know what happened that day. For those and anyone else looking for a review, I have posted the following video. This covers the first minutes before we knew about the other planes, before the collapse of the towers. Imagine being at your gym, like my wife was and suddenly see this coming over the TV.  She tried to call me but I was on BART. BART didn’t have cell coverage 10 years ago. I first found out when I walked into a Starbucks at Civic Center where people were quietly buying coffee and starring at a TV someone had put on the counter. It was surreal.

September 11, 2001 – As It Happened

The next video adds more detail, more pictures and depicts my feelings. Osama Bin Laden is dead. Piss on his heirs. I would let no relative out to about third cousins live. I am not ready to move on and accept peace on Sharia terms. Neither should you.

U.S., Afghanistan confirm peace talks with Taliban

Washington and Kabul have started peace talks with Taliban insurgents, according to Afghan President Hamid Karzai and U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Karzai on Saturday said the negotiations between Taliban emissaries and a peace council he set up are going well.

Tell me this isn’t the most ridiculous, insulting, cowardly thing to come down the pike since Kissinger sold out the MIA’s in Vietnam. I know the soldier’s there feel slapped in the face. And the one’s that died there for nothing except some ill-planned revenge by an American President unable to be swayed by a morally bankrupt Congress – what a waste (again).

I will go on record right now that all of this will make no difference when we leave Pakistan. The Taliban will back in short order ready to take over. Treaty or not, hand shake or not, bet your camel or not - this is not a political problem that you cannot reconcile. This is religious.

 R*E*L*I*G*I*O*U*S

Religious righteousness with no tolerance, no wisdom, no forgiveness, and no humanity; just ignorance, injustice and butality in the name of a God.  Who really thought we could change things?

Anybody ready to start an office pool on how long Hamid Karzai will be alive after we pull out?

A colleague comes home from the Secret War in Southeast Asia

donaldshue. . . a farmer in Laos found human remains that JPAC officials determined were the three Americans from Reconnaissance Team Maryland: Sergeants Shue, Wald and Brown. A forensic report confirmed that teeth recovered from that area matched Sergeant Shue’s dental records . . . .

Donald Shue was TDY (temporary duty) to SOG from B Company, 1st Special Forces Group. I knew him from there (Okinawa). He went missing during a highly classified mission in Laos on November 3, 1969, part of the secret war in Vietnam. He came home and was laid to rest on May 1, 2011. He had been gone a long time and his family had few details on what had happened to him. Now they have the whole story.

Thousands of spectators attended memorial services for Sergeant Shue in Concord and Kannapolis, and the funeral on Sunday. Thousands more lined the roads holding flags as Sergeant Shue’s procession passed, escorted by more than 4,000 motorcyclists from the Special Forces Association, the Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder, Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club and Combat Veterans Association.

I am glad he is home and hope the others will also be brought home.  51 Green Berets who fought in Southeast Asia remain listed as missing in action.
